Another great store was Roos Brothers and then in the 50's, they merged with Atkins and became Roos-Atkins. This was strictly quality men's wear and I remember shopping with my father. Then in later years, they added women's quality clothing and accessories. Rodders, Berkeley's, Roos Bros., Roos-Atkins are stores of the past. Even Gottschalk's was a nice store. So sad that this quality is gone unless you are shopping on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and then I still question the quality. Let's talk about pricing!

I remember shopping at Rodder's on the Fulton Mall and in Manchester (it was down from Rhodes/Liberty House), including Berkeley's. I have a beautiful purse that my father gave to my mother in the 50's that came from Rodder's. I have the original Rodder's box. This purse looks brand new and I use it today. It is in style and always has been. When you buy quality , it lasts forever. True story.

Rodder's downtown was one of my favorite stores, and I shopped there many times. I went to school with Albert Rodder. We were both in Fresno High Class of 1945. Years later, when I returned to Fresno, I saw him a few times. He'd become an expert bridge player.

I do remember Rodder's in the Fulton Mall downtown in the 70's. I bought a pair of real leather sandles that lasted me over 10 years! Best sandles I have owned to this day. They don't make them like that anymore.

Yes, Rodder's Desert Doll. I believe it was a store within a store (namely Rodder's) - or it was part of Rodder's. Anyway, more younger type clothes - wasn't Roos-Atkins related to Rodders also?

Rodder's Mademoiselle was on Fulton Street in downtown Fresno for many years before moving to other locations. It was Fresno classiest downtown Women's store, along with Berkeley's (I. Magnin was very classy too, but opened near downtown at Van Ness and Calaveras later, I believe in the 1960's). I recall seeing a vintage news photo of singer/movie star Frank Sinatra surrounded by pretty Fresno girls which was taken at Rodder's Mademoiselle about 1945.

Rodder's was also next door to Rhode's in the Manchester Center in the mid 60s to early 70s.

Rodder's was at Fashion Fair. Sorry, but I can't help you with the dates.

Does anyone remember a store called Rodder's, Rodder's Mademoiselle or Rodder's Desert Doll? I think it was a women's clothing store. Where was it and when did it operate?
